Instruction in the aviation related subjects is an important but enjoyable part of the ATC. As you progress through the classifications, or stages of training, you will recieve a higher level of responsibility and will have more options within the organization. Every cadet has a classification, making it separate from rank.
Probationer
When you first join the ATC, you will be a probationer. This period
usually lasts for around three months as you attend an induction course
and are then given your uniform.
As soon as you receive your uniform you will be enrolled and become
a second class cadet. There is no badge for this classification but you
will begin training for your First Class Cadet badge as soon as possible.
In order to become a first Class cadet you must first complete the training program for this classification. The syllabus includes:
| The RAF | Initial Expedition Training | Airmanship I |
| The ATC | The Rifle | Communications |
| First Aid | Map Reading | History of Flight |
In addition to this you will also have to pass a basic drill test.
Once you have completed the course and passed a simple test you will be awarded your First Class Cadet training certificate and badge. The badge depicts a four pointed star and is worn on your brassard which forms part of your uniform. As a first class cadet you will now be eligible to go to UK camp, flying, gliding, shooting and sports.
